A: Ironically the engagement between individuals from different universities and across disciplines occurs more easily than between colleagues from the same university. The trust associated with ‘Chatham House Rules’ has fewer barriers so the richness of the conversation is stronger, there are fewer defensive behaviours and so greater openness to personal learning occurs. The mix of disciplines and universities helps the participants to appreciate that many others are experiencing similar personal and organisational challenges. This then forms a useful platform for individuals to consider personal action to drive change rather than remain a victim to organisation systems and dominant individuals.
